Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, is encouraging people to attend the Hawick discussion on the Scottish Government's long awaited land use strategy, the draft of which is to be published later this year.
The Hawick meeting will take place on 18th March at 6.30pm in the Town Hall.
Mr Hume said:
"My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I have been pressing the Scottish Government on the need for a land use strategy for some time now.
"With a number of competing uses on our land such as traditional agriculture through to tree planting and the production of renewable energy crops, it's only sensible that a proper strategy is developed which will ensure no one sector is out competed by another and that there is a balanced use of our land.
"Any strategy must look at economic and environmental benefits of how land is used in Scotland.
"It's vital that land managers and members of the public feed in their views to these discussions."
