Commenting on the latest official figures showing an improvement in the overall number of cancer patients treated within waiting time targets, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"NHS staff across Scotland should be praised for their hard work in driving down cancer waiting times.

"We must however tackle the postcode lottery that still exists across the country.

"We want to see waiting times in NHS Fife and Western Isles meeting these targets so that every Scottish person can expect prompt treatment country wide.
